Blundell’s Featured in the Tatler Schools Guide 2027
We are delighted to see Blundell’s featured in the latest Tatler Schools Guide, with the review celebrating the breadth of school life, from sport and the performing arts to music and Co-Curricular opportunities.
With Gareth Pearson beginning his first year as Head, it is an exciting moment for Blundell’s as we look proudly to the future.
New head Gareth Pearson inherits a school that’s ambitious, aspirational – and grounded. ‘The children always look fresh-faced and smiling, dashing around campus, caked in mud from sporting activities,’ says a parent, who chose the school on ‘gut feeling’ and has no regrets. For, rather than hothousing, the focus is on nurturing a broad range of abilities and strengths; and pupils love ‘the opportunities available to all and the encouraging culture’.
Not least in sport: rugby, hockey and netball are firm favourites; golf and basketball are growing in popularity; and a steady stream of cricketers head off to the Darren Lehman academy in Australia, while the girls’ team has a full fixtures list. Elsewhere, the thespians staged a West End-style performance of Les Misérables, and the music department has hit a particular crescendo of late. An ongoing partnership with the inspiring London Chamber Orchestra has been supplemented by new collaborations with the Bath Philharmonic and Exeter University Chapel Choir, who sing Evensong in the school chapel. Following 18 months of hard work, a new AI project is being implemented, with AI classes for pupils from Year 9 on (and training to staff, too). The first phase of a £4 million investment in the sports facilities has delivered a top-of-the-range golf simulator. Next up are a new cricket pavilion and swimming pool.
