Blundell's Summer School offers an outstanding opportunity for international students to improve their English, explore British culture and experience life in a traditional UK Boarding School.

page image Blundell’s Summer School, set in the South West countryside, offers a safe and supportive environment with a diverse international community (capped at 15% per nationality). Pupils are taught by Blundell’s own teachers, combining English language development with creative workshops in arts, drama, and music. A wide range of co-curricular activities – from sport and outdoor adventure to cultural experiences – encourages teamwork, communication, and resilience. With afternoons shared alongside English-speaking pupils, the programme provides natural opportunities for conversation, friendships, and fun. For those joining Blundell’s or other UK schools, it is the perfect way to build confidence and feel at home before term begins.

Our international student travel insurance policy is designed to cater for the insurance needs of persons studying in the UK on a trip arranged by Westonbirt Summer School and is included in the booking price. The product provides cover including emergency medical assistance and medical costs, protection in the event of cancellation or curtailment, cover for loss, theft of or damage to baggage and personal money. FAQ's

What is included in the price?
The price includes accommodation, academic lessons, activities, meals, and airport transfers. Flights and pocket money are not included.
How does my child travel to and from the airport?
We provide airport transfers from Heathrow and Bristol for arrivals between 10:00 and 17:00. Transfers from other airports can be arranged at a small additional cost.
What level of English is required?
All levels are welcome. Students are assessed on arrival and placed in classes with students of a similar level.
How big are the classes?
Classes are kept small to maximise progress, with a maximum of 10 students. Occasionally, class sizes may increase to up to 15.
Who will my child study with?
Students come from a wide range of nationalities. We limit any single nationality to a maximum of 15% to ensure English remains the main language of communication.
Where will my child stay?
Students stay in Blundell’s boarding houses, enjoying a full residential boarding school experience.
Who looks after my child?
Students are cared for by Blundell’s own experienced staff. All staff are fully trained in safeguarding and child protection, and we are proud of our strong pastoral care.
What is the mobile phone policy?
Students are given daily access to their phones to stay in touch with home. At other times, phones are securely stored to minimise distractions and encourage full engagement in the programme.
