Learning Support
At Blundell’s, our Learning Support Department is dedicated to helping every pupil reach their full potential. Led by our Head of Learning Support and a team of six highly qualified specialist teachers, we provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of our pupils.
Our Approach
We believe that understanding each pupil’s unique learning profile is essential. By working closely with pupils, parents, and external specialists, we ensure that our support is bespoke and targeted to meet the needs of the pupil.
We offer expertise in supporting a wide range of Specific Learning Difficulties including:
• Dyslexia support – Structured literacy interventions led by specialist teachers.
• Dyscalculia support – Expert guidance for pupils who face challenges with mathematics.
• Personalised learning strategies – Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and effective study skills.
What We Offer
We provide one-to-one teaching as well as small group sessions in Literacy, Maths and Study skills.
How Our Lessons Work
Learning Support lessons are integrated into the normal school timetable, ensuring minimal disruption to the pupil’s academic progress while providing them with the support they need. Pupils typically drop a subject in consultation with the Head of Learning Support, parents, and the Academic Head of Year.
Building Confidence and Independence
Our goal is to empower pupils, build their self-esteem, and set them on the path to independent learning. By fostering high expectations and positive working relationships, we strive to maximise opportunities and success for every pupil.
