Community Partnerships

Providing engaging and exciting opportunities that have a real, positive, and sustainable impact on all those involved.

Blundell’s Community Partnerships offers engaging and exciting opportunities that have a real, positive, and sustainable impact on all those involved. The initiatives that it covers are pupil-led for working in partnership is central to the Social Responsibility of Blundellians.

Local, national, and international partnerships are an important part of a Blundellians experience, to develop personally, as a team member and as a leader whilst learning a range of life skills to take with them into the future.

Our Community Partnerships are growing all the time but currently focus on:

Tiverton and our local community

We attend regular Tiverton Town Council Meetings to give a report to Councillors on school achievements, new initiatives, local engagement, and events.

2021 sees the launch of our Tiverton Loyalty Card scheme in support of local traders.

We support Tiverton by taking part in the ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ section of the annual Britain in Bloom competition.

An academic and pastoral ‘Community Curriculum’ is under development to give Blundellians the opportunity to engage with local business and organisation to enrich their learning and experience of life skills.

Volunteering at Pine Lodge Hospice, Local Residential Homes, Tiverton Adventure Playground and Community Groups.

Local schools

The Tidcombe Primary School Partnership welcomes their Year 6 to Blundell’s for additional science and sport each term. This is available to all local Primary Schools.

Partnerships with ACE Tiverton, Tiverton High School and Uffculme High School are continuing to develop.

Events like the Easter Netball Camp and the weekly Titans Tiverton Netball Club based at Blundell’s are available to the wider Mid Devon Community.

Blundell’s Art and Music Departments are both involved with Tiverton High School sharing best practice to achieve top grades, taking part in local competitions such as Sustainable Tiverton and working with local community groups on events such as the Lantern Parade at Christmas and the Big Band of Fun.

A member of the PE Department runs weekly sessions at several local Primary Schools in the Culm Valley Small Schools Association.

The BLundell's Garden

The Blundell’s Garden is a resource for the whole community. Somewhere for us all to enjoy and learn about growing healthy food, with sustainability, environmental awareness, and wildlife as a focus. The Garden is a fantastic opportunity for curriculum and pastoral enrichment but perhaps most importantly, it is somewhere to relax, enjoy the company of friends and put our mental health and wellbeing first!

For Tiverton, we enter the ‘In Your Neighbourhood’ section of Britain in Bloom. In 2019 we won awards for Horticultural Skills and outstanding work carried out by groups of young people in the Blundell’s Garden and our volunteer work in the Pine Lodge Hospiscare gardens.

A venue for termly community events, school visits and the Annual National Open Garden Scheme (from 2022)

The Blundell’s Garden Café opens regularly selling smoothies, hot chocolate, soups and cakes. Whenever possible this is home grown and always homemade!

Events

The next Community Partnership events are: (these are currently for the Blundell’s Community only but we are looking forward to welcoming the wider community as restrictions continue to ease).
