Blundell's pupil Sanna selected for England U16 International Tournament
Year 11 Blundell’s pupil Sanna has continued her exceptional run of form on the pitch, earning a well-deserved call-up to the England U16 Hockey squad for their upcoming international campaigns.
The young defender is set for a demanding schedule, first joining the national team for the England Junior Euro Preparation tour across Holland and Germany. Following this vital build-up, Sanna will travel to Cork, Ireland, to compete in the highly anticipated Eight Nations tournament. Across both tours, the England team is set to test its mettle against Europe’s elite youth squads, facing formidable opposition that includes Holland, Germany, Ireland, and Spain.
Operating at the heart of the team as a centre back, Sanna brings a uniquely modern and aggressive skillset to the England squad. While a stalwart in defence, she is particularly noted for adding real dynamism to the attack. Armed with exceptional distribution and a massive aerial ball, she has the vision to instantly open the pitch. Combined with a wicked turn of pace that allows her to seamlessly beat pressing forwards, Sanna is a constant threat when it comes to turning solid defence into blistering counter-attacks.
