Blundell's at Rosslyn Park
Rosslyn Park has again been a successful week for Blundell’s with over 70 boys and girls competing at this year's tournament. Blundell’s remains one of only a few schools that send the full number of teams to the tournament, four boys and three girls' teams.
The U16’s were the first to arrive at Rosslyn Park, they won their group comfortably and played some really good rugby, scoring some excellent tries, but unfortunately the draw wasn’t kind to them, and they went out in the knockout stages.
The U14 Girls had a great tournament, two wins and a draw wasn’t quite enough for them to get through finally missing out on points difference, which is tough, but they still came away from Rosslyn undefeated.
Despite a tough group the U14 boys worked hard and managed to get through to day two, they were equally as good the second day another three group wins saw them get through to the quarterfinals where they eventually ran out of steam and lost against Clifton.
The U16 boys put in two good performances including a good win on the livestream but were unlucky to get drawn against a strong Kingswood team in the elimination game, a poor start meant they left themselves too much to do and eventually that was where their tournament ended.
The U18 boys and Girls were the next to arrive, the boys who had been drawn in a very tough group started well, despite a last minute loss verses the much fancied Berkhampsted side, the performance was very promising, next up last year's semi finalists Gordon's, it was another good performance and in the end a comfortable win. Unfortunately, two losses followed and that was the end for the boys.
The girls had a confident start to their campaign playing some really good rugby and scoring some impressive tries, they picked up four wins before a loss in their last game, this meant they still qualified for the knockout stages on day two. With the injuries starting to mount up, the second day proved tough, and despite working hard and playing well, they weren’t quite able to progress any further in the competition.
Finally, the U13’s arrived and got off to a great start, moving the ball around well they played some great 7’s rugby the first game finishing a five try draw.
Things got tougher though as the day went on, they carried on moving the ball well, but our defence didn’t quite match the quality of our attack, one impressive win and three losses was how the day ended. This tournament has been great for our U13’s despite the results it was a day of learning for our boys who all had a great time will be much better for the experience.
