Blundell’s Riders Shine at NSEA Championships
Blundell’s equestrian team enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the NSEA Championships at Hickstead, with five pupils making the journey to the world-famous All England Jumping Course to compete against some of the country's top young riders.
Despite battling bank holiday traffic and soaring temperatures, the team delivered a series of impressive performances across three days of competition.
The championships began with the 70–75cm Arena Eventing Championships, where Tabitha, Izzy and Daisy produced excellent rounds to help the team secure 11th place out of 27 teams.
On the second day, Izzy, Jessica and Tabitha tackled a challenging and technical 80–85cm Arena Eventing course, riding confidently and demonstrating great skill throughout.
The final day saw Phoebe produce a stylish double clear in the highly competitive 90–95cm Arena Eventing Championship, finishing an impressive 18th out of 134 competitors.
The pupils also had the honour of representing both Blundell’s and Devon in the County Championships Show Jumping competition. With temperatures reaching 33 degrees, the event was shortened to a single round, but the team rose to the challenge. Producing personal best performances over a demanding course, the riders finished with a team score of just four faults.
Phoebe, Daisy and Tabitha secured 10th place overall, narrowly missing out on the coveted NSEA Championship buckets.
The entire squad represented the School with determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. Special recognition should also go to Florence and Josh, who were unfortunately unable to attend the championships due to their ponies being unfit to compete. Both played an important role in helping the teams qualify for Hickstead and were very much part of the team's success.
Congratulations to all involved on a fantastic championship weekend and on representing Blundell’s with such distinction.
