Francis House Celebrates 100 Years of Brotherhood, Character and Community
A century of tradition, belonging and the enduring spirit of Francis House at Blundell’s.

This year, we are proud to celebrate the centenary of Francis House, marking 100 years since its founding in 1926. For a century, Francis House has been far more than simply a building, it has been a place of belonging, friendship, support and personal growth for generations of young men.
While the House itself holds a rich history, its true legacy lies in the people who have lived within it and the spirit that continues to define it today. Through shared experiences, lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community, Francis House has helped shape pupils of character, confidence and purpose for the last hundred years.
At the heart of Francis House are the enduring Franciscan values of respect, resilience, responsibility and service. Within a warm and nurturing environment, pupils are encouraged to support one another, embrace opportunity and take pride in both effort and progress. There is a genuine sense of joy within the House, where participation is celebrated, individuality is valued and every pupil is encouraged to contribute to the wider community.
For generations, Francis House has championed the belief that success is measured not only by achievement, but by giving one’s very best with honesty, determination and integrity. Through care, encouragement and empathy, the House continues to foster a strong sense of belonging while inspiring young people to grow into thoughtful, compassionate and resilient individuals.
Reaching this centenary is a truly special milestone, an opportunity to reflect with pride and gratitude on the many people who have shaped Francis House over the last 100 years, to celebrate the vibrant community that exists today, and to look ahead with confidence and optimism to the future.
