Design and Technology at Blundell's

Design & Technology at Blundell’s brings together creativity, problem solving and practical expertise, giving pupils the confidence to turn ambitious ideas into real, working products.

Our recently refurbished workshops combine traditional tools and manufacturing techniques with modern technology including 3D printers, laser and plasma cutters, CNC machinery, plotter cutters and a CNC router. Pupils learn to move from initial concept through design, development, testing and manufacture with increasing independence and precision. From creative projects in Years 7–9 to specialist study in Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Product Design at GCSE and A Level, pupils develop technical knowledge alongside resilience, innovation and critical thinking. D&T encourages pupils to identify problems, test solutions and continually refine their ideas - skills with value far beyond the workshop. Recent Blundell’s pupils have progressed to courses including Architecture at UCL and Product Design at Loughborough, as well as engineering careers with the Royal Navy.
