Blundell's Visit to Kenya 2026
Members of the Blundell's School Senior Leadership Team will be visiting Kenya from 30 October to 6 November.
Throughout the week we will be hosting presentations, school visits, drop-in sessions, one-to-one meetings and informal receptions for families interested in learning more about UK boarding education and Blundell's School.
Families are welcome to attend as many or as few events as they wish.

Adèle WorsleyDeputy Head Co-Curricular
Having grown up in Nairobi, Adèle has a deep personal connection to Kenya and retains a great affection for East Africa. She completed her Sixth Form education at a boarding school in England (Monkton Combe School, Bath) before going on to study at the Universities of Bristol and Oxford. Adèle has spent over two decades working in leading independent schools, including Marlborough College, Cranleigh School and Blundell's School. Throughout her career she has combined academic teaching with pastoral care and co-curricular leadership, serving as a Head of Netball, Deputy Head of Mathematics, Housemistress and now, Deputy Head Co-Curricular. In her current role she leads Blundell's extensive co-curricular programme, working closely with pupils and staff to create opportunities that challenge, inspire and help young people flourish both in and beyond the classroom. Passionate about the transformational opportunities afforded by boarding education, Adèle is particularly interested in helping young people develop confidence, resilience and a sense of purpose beyond the classroom. Her faith is an important part of her life and continues to inspire her commitment to service, education and the support of others. Although she now feels very fortunate to call Devon home and loves spending time by the sea, she still misses Africa greatly and returns whenever she can. She is delighted to be visiting Kenya again and looks forward to meeting families, answering questions and sharing her experiences of both UK boarding education and life at Blundell's. |

Dylan SmartDirector of Marketing & Admissions
Dylan Smart has devoted nearly two decades to Blundell's, the distinguished British boarding school founded in 1604. As Director of Marketing & Admissions, Mr Smart oversees the journey of each family from their very first enquiry to the day their child joins the school community. |

Thomas Sanders Scholarship
Thomas Sanders was an Old Blundellian who served with the Royal Artillery during the 2nd World War and who died in Kenya in 1943.
His grave is marked in the War Cemetery in Gilgil, just a few miles from Pembroke House School.The Scholarship will be awarded to a boy or girl who displays generosity of spirit and a strong sense of community. Whilst achievement in a specific sphere of school life such as music,
academics or sport is an advantage, the award is primarily to recognise outstanding character.Successful candidates will be young people who have the moral courage to make good choices, even when they are difficult. They will be people of character who are respected by their peers for their sense of justice and for having the moral fibre to do the right thing when it is not the easiest path to take. Blundell’s would suit a pupil who is whole-hearted and adventurous, someone who is prepared to try their hand at new challenges and who will make the most of the opportunities on offer.

| Blundell’s believes in preserving a powerful boarding atmosphere. For Years 9-12 there are two girls’ Houses and three boys’ Houses. In their final year pupils in the Upper Sixth move to the purpose-built pre-university preparation house called Westlake. The Houses retain a separate identity in the way they go about things, yet expectations of pupils and pastoral care are unified and integrated across the school. Each House has a team of Tutors who work closely with the House Parents to support the broad development of their tutees. Every House has at least one Matron who is an integral member of the house pastoral team; she also has a strong responsibility, along with others, for the medical welfare of the pupils. There is a modern, fully equipped Medical Centre run by qualified staff, with a daily Doctor’s Surgery for boarders.The strength of the House system is that it promotes pastoral welfare, happiness, and fosters a strong spirit of academic achievement. |
| Overseas Students |

| Throughout its 400 year history Blundell’s has provided for pupils from overseas. Improvements in travel and communication over the last two decades, has produced a wider range of International students than in the past and they usually make up about 12% of the total number.Overseas students are fully integrated into the school and all pupils 13-18 have a full school programme on Saturdays. The boarding houses are always open at weekends, even on Leave Weekends. All overseas students require a UK based Guardian. |
