Blundell’s School Appoints Gareth Pearson as Next Head
Blundell’s School is delighted to announce the appointment of Gareth Pearson as its next Head, set to take the helm in September 2026.
Currently leading Christ College, Brecon, Mr Pearson has earned recognition as an inspirational and values-driven leader. Under his guidance since 2017, Christ College has flourished academically and pastorally, with Mr Pearson being shortlisted by Tatler in 2024 for “Best Head of a Public School.”
Born in Dorset, Mr Pearson studied Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University before serving as an Officer in the Royal Marines. His career in education has seen leadership roles at Millfield, Wellington College, and Lord Wandsworth College.
On his appointment, Mr Pearson shared his enthusiasm: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Blundell’s—a school I have long admired for its blend of tradition, ambition, and community spirit. It is a privilege to lead such a remarkable school into its next chapter."
Mr Pearson will succeed current Head, Bart Wielenga, who will return to South Africa to become Rector of Michaelhouse.
