Westlake is our unique co-educational Year 13 house, where the boys and girls live together as a community in what is probably their most important year in education.
Boys and girls have their own separate sides of the house, with communal common rooms and kitchens, and the team of staff in Westlake is dedicated to providing a supportive environment whilst allowing each individual to make their own, informed decisions.
We see this very much as the transition year to life beyond Blundell’s, with academic rigour being instilled from day one. All students have their own work space, mostly in single rooms, and they can also use the wonderful Study Centre in the house. Many of our students go on to higher education and Westlake provides the perfect insight into what it will be like to live and work at university.
The Westlake ethos is one of positivity, mutual support, cohesion as a community, and a collective sense of purpose as the year progresses. The driving force from day one is for students to see themselves as an individual, and we ensure they develop the all-important life skills that will make them a success.
