Boys' Hockey
Boys’ Hockey at Blundell’s School has been getting stronger and stronger in recent years. New fixtures for the 1st XI against the likes of Sherborne, Wells Cathedral School and Monkton Combe, together with challenging encounters with Exeter, Taunton and Elizabeth College (Guernsey) enable the boys to test themselves against some of the very strongest schools in the region. In addition, the 1st XI have visited Guernsey for a number of years for a short, enjoyable tour over the February half-term.

In the Spring term, the boys have a free choice between a number of sports, including football. Pleasingly, numbers opting to play hockey remain strong. Indeed, not only have the number of fixtures increased but an U14B team was introduced in 2009 to cater for increasing numbers. The building of a second astro-turf should allow even more to participate in the future. 2009 also saw Blundell’s enter the National School’s Competition for the first time in many years. However, hockey is Devon is highly competitive and both the 1st XI and U14 teams were eliminated by local rivals, Exeter School.
