A fantastic production was performed by the children in Year One this week. They told the story of Tattybogle the scarecrow, singing songs, saying their words and dancing beautifully.
 
Mr and Mrs Gumpy's Musical Journey Mr. and Mrs. Gumpy's Musical Journey  
Children in Nursery One performed to a packed audience this week when they entertained their parents with songs and actions from the story of Mr. and Mrs. Gumpy's Musical Journey. There were rabbits, dogs, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens and children who all fitted in Mr. Gumpy's car and four faithful mechanics who kept the car going.It was a delightful performance.

Children in the Kindergarten put on the play of "Noah's Ark" this week. They sang beautifully and looked wonderful in their costumes.

Many children from the Prep and Pre-Prep were involved in the recent ballet show which was entitled "Children's Corner."
 
Tiverton Museum visit Tiverton Museum visit Tiverton Museum visit
Pupils in Year One had an informative and fun day at the Tiverton Museum. They had the opportunity to wear Victorian clothes and to find out about how different life was for children over a hundred years ago. They even experienced what it was like being in a Victorian classroom and were rather shocked that some of the rules were so strict.

Year One recently visited the school chapel as part of their R.E. curriculum and were given a tour by the Revd. Tim Hunt, the school Chaplain.

Year 2 performed The Giant Slayer in the last week of term.

Our play was called The Giant Slayer and I was the announcer. The songs were hard to learn but I enjoyed them. Sam

I was a Philistine in our play and I liked shouting Go-liath! Alexander

I was Davids father, Jesse. My wife (Charlotte) told me to go and read the Daily Tablet so I had to look fed up. On the day of the performance I was really embarrassed because the zip broke on my costume just as we were about to start our play and Mrs. Lennox had to put pins all down the front but my Mum didnt even notice. I was very happy doing our play. I know everybodys words and I liked carrying the pot of lentil stew. Maddi
 
Magic Train Ride The Magic Train Ride Magic Train Ride
The children in Nursery N performed The Magic Train Ride for their Easter Entertainment. They thoroughly enjoyed the preparation, painting the train and making backdrops with dinosaurs and planets. Thomas Kilmartin was the train driver whose magic ticket took the children to the seaside, underwater, outer space, dinosaur land and the jungle. All the children recited individual poems and had great fun singing catchy numbers such as There's a Fly on My Ice Cream and The Animal Boogie Woogie Oogie!
 
Really Wild Enterprises Really Wild Enterprises Really Wild Enterprises
Really Wild Enterprises visited kindergarten K, Kindergarten P and Nursery N this term and the children enjoyed a session learning about ‘All sorts of creatures’, such as a bird eating spider, a chinchilla, a blue-tongued lizard and giant snails.  Many children had the opportunity to handle the creatures and we learnt many things including how to stroke them properly with the back of our hands, so that the germs from our fingers did not contaminate them.

Recently the Nursery performed their Spring Term play to audiences of pupils, staff and parents in the Pre-Prep Hall. The play was an adaptation of the story of Noah's Ark and involved a trip through the seasons while Noah and his helpers built the Ark. The children played many parts including narrators, musicians, builders, the sun, rain and snow as well as animals of course! Their performances were enjoyed by all.
 
Plane models Science Week #2 Pilot visit
During science week there was a competition for children to enter. They had to design a paper aeroplane and decorate it. There were prizes for the best decorated plane and for the planes that flew the furthest. To the left are the winners of the science week paper aeroplane competition. Matron kindly judged the best decorated planes and presented the prizes.

Also in the week a pilot visited the Pre-Prep to talk about aeroplanes and what the job of being a pilot involves (see right).

Recently the school had a Science Week which started with Tony Griffiths entertaining the children with different science experiments with his "Magic of Science" show. This was very much enjoyed by the children and they learnt a few scientific facts at the same time.
 
1N history project on houses 1N history topic on houses  
Form 1N have had fun finding out about the ages of their homes as part of a history topic on "Houses." They created a timeline to show which children had the oldest and newest houses.
 
Global warming demonstration by 2C 2C global warming demonstration  
Form 2C demonstrated the problem of global warming to the rest of the Preprep in their recent assembly.
 
An Alphabet for Christmas An Alphabet for Christmas  
Year Two entertained their families and friends with "An Alphabet For Christmas." They all enjoyed singing the traditional carols and reciting the alphabet rhyme.
 
Raggedy King The Raggedy King Raggedy King
Year One performed the story of The Raggedy King. There were some wonderful soloists, angels, sheep and shepherds. Parents could not help but feel festive after their grand performance.
 
George and the Dragon George and the Dragon George and the Dragon
There was much laughter to be heard at this year's performance by the West Midlands Theatre Company. They treated us to a very entertaining version of "George and the Dragon." A few lucky children were chosen to help the Theatre Company with their performance and proved to be potential stars!!
 
Nursery walk in the woods Gornhay Woods walk for the Nursery  
Nursery N had a lovely walk to Gornhay Woods looking for signs of autumn. They filled a bucket with leaves, acorns and conkers and had great fun walking along the muddy lanes!
 
Burglar Bill show Burglar Bill show  
The Armchair Theatre Company entertained the Preprep children with a puppet show based on the story of Burglar Bill. It was very entertaining especially when they found out that Burglar Bill had stolen items from each of the classes!
 
Book Week - book quiz Book Week Book Week - Year 2 poems
There were some tense moments during this year's PrePrep book quiz as various children searched their brains for the correct answers to some challenging literary questions. To the left is the winning team, enjoying their success.

Each class had to make a book to share with the rest of the Preprep in assembly. Pictured to the right are some Year 2 children reading some poems from the book they made.
 
Book Week Book Week - Book at Bedtime  
Book Week ended on a very sleepy note with a real favourite with the children... "Book at Bedtime". Children came back to school clutching their pillows and sleeping bags and snuggled up while staff read them some bedtime stories. Hot chocolate and cookies were a must during the interval!
 
  Kindergarten science  
In a PrePrep assembly, pupils in the Kindergarten showed the things they made out of wood as part of a science topic on Materials. They even made their own totem pole!
 
RS project Year 2 religious studies  
Pupils from Form 2L made model Sukkahs as part of the celebration of the Jewish festival of Succot or the Feast of the Tabernacles. It celebrates the harvest and recalls the journey through the wilderness after the Exodus from Egypt when they lived in huts.

Year 1 had fun at looking at the chicks at Ridgeway Farm on their science/geography trip this week. They were impressed by the size of the combine harvester at the farm.
 
Harvest Festival Harvest Festival  
The Preprep celebrated their Harvest Festival this week. The children brought in a wonderful collection of food which was distributed to local needy people.
