  Year 2 children reading to Year 6  
The older children thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility of listening to the younger children read and look forward to reading to the Year 2 children next time.

Pupils from both the Prep and Senior School took part in a combined team effort at St. Michaels cross-country relays. It was an outstanding afternoon where both the boys and girls dominated the team events with runners from Years 5, 6, 7 and 8.

House Music Competition
This year's House Music Competition took place this week. A huge amount of preparation and practice was put in by pupils and staff ready for the afternoon. All pupils performed well for their Houses and the adjudicator, Mrs Milne from Two Moors Primary School in Tiverton, was amazed by the standard achieved. The triumphant House was Raleigh. Well done to all those who took part.

The annual pancake races took place this week in stormy conditions. Despite the weather all the junior and senior pupils took part in a competitive race of pancake tossing and running. The Junior event was won by Grenville House and the Senior event by Raleigh.

Art Week
During art week Year 6 pupils have been working on a project based on the work of artist Eric Carle, famous for his children's books which include 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. They have worked with the artist-in-residence at Blundell's, Ruth Shorrocks, in designing and creating a collage of creatures made from painted tissue paper. The pupils have enjoyed and benefited from the extended time spent working with a talented artist. The complete mural can be seen below.

Pupils in Year 4 have been working with Stefan, a willow sculptor, in creating a mythical beast from willow. When complete this beast may be spotted around the grounds of the school. The staff and pupils are very grateful for the support and expertise of many parents as a huge number of Art activities have been possible through their support.

This week all pupils in Prep and Pre-Prep have been involved in extended art activities. Here some pupils in Year 4 have created masks using 'Mod-roc' and painted and embellished them to resemble Greek Gods.

Six teams were recently hosted at Blundell's Prep for a busy midweek fixture. The U11A team beat Plymouth College but narrowly lost to Queen's College. The U11B team lost to Queen's College. The U10B team had an encouraging win against the Queen's team. The U10A team lost to a strong side from Queen's but played well to defeat Plymouth College.

The Year 4 Sculpture Park opened a few weeks ago. The wildlife area was transformed into a jungle full of strange creatures!
