Music

At Blundell’s Prep we aim to instil a love of music in all pupils.  The children have one hour of class music each week and are invited to join a range of instrumental and singing activities including our popular choir.  A wide range of instruments can be learned with our visiting music teachers many of whom link into the senior school.

Music at Blundell's Prep is an integral part of school life. A specialist teaches this subject from year 2 to year 6 within the curriculum. All children learn the recorder in years 3 and 4, in addition ten peripatetic teachers visit to teach a wide variety of instruments. These include Piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums and singing.

All the children sing each week and are encouraged to join our thriving choir in year 4 and above. Which number nearly sixty. We also have a string group, wind band and recorder club which meet each week.

The children are given many opportunities during the year to perform in concerts within school and the community either as a soloist or in groups.

Teatime Concert

Teatime ConcertTeatime ConcertChristmas came early at our teatime concert recently. Our programme contained lots of Christmas tunes including Max Berry playing a jazz arrangement of Jingle Bells.

Grace Belcher has only been playing the piano since the beginning of term and performed Merry Go Round beautifully.
