We believe that mathematics is the language of life, offering fascinating insights into our world and how it works.

From nursery through to Year 6 (age 11) we lay the foundations of, and build on, a thorough understanding of number, measurement, shape, space and handling data. A Maths lesson with teacher Lee MooreOur programme of study is based on the National Curriculum, but in addition to Key Stages 1 and 2, we also cover some Key Stage 3 (secondary) material. This is because we prepare all our children to sit any of a range of 11+ entrance exams in maths, including the Common Entrance Paper.

Of course, passing exams at the highest level we can achieve is an important part of life. At Blundell's Prep we are proud of an excellent record of exam attainment, but achievement in maths is about far more than exams. Our objective is that children go on to senior school with confidence in, and real enjoyment of, maths in everyday life. Our role is to imbue our pupils with the same enthusiasm we feel for this exciting subject, so they can continue to develop their knowledge, understanding and true potential in this fascinating subject through the rest of their lives.
