Taiwan

Hi, my name is Martin Liang and I come from Taiwan which is in the south-east of China. I have been at Blundell’s since September 2008 to begin my AS course.
Blundell’s is a historic and traditional English school. The environment here is great and beautiful. In addition, there are many different kinds of sports we can do through the year and this makes me very excited because I love playing sport with my friends. Furthermore, there aren’t many Asian students here, therefore, I have more chance to speak English and this can improve my English a lot. These are all the reasons that have made me want to study here since I came for my interview.
I live in Old House. It is a very nice and friendly boarding house. I made a lot of new friends in my first few days. They always help and tell me all the things that are new to me, like the location of classrooms, when we have chapel, etc. Because of them, I got used to my new life quicker than I expected.
I study Maths, Physics and Business Studies as my 3 AS subjects and I’ve enjoyed learning all these things. Although it is hard for me to understand the questions in each subject, I still think if I work really hard then I will be able to do well. Apart from the academic side, I also have 2 TESOL lessons per week. The teacher gives me a lot of help to improve my English. I find it really helpful and my English is improving as time goes on.
I’m going to carry on my A2 course in Blundell’s and after this I will go to university in the U.K. too. My ambition is to have my own business, and to achieve this goal I have to work really hard now to prepare for life in the future.
