We have been raising money with our pupils to help reduce the consequences of poverty in Laos. Our aim is to work with the Community Learning International program, which promotes development aid through village based projects that positively impact education, water and income generation, whilst preserving and respecting the rich culture and traditions of the Laos people. Our fundraising will be focused on the local area around the Luang Prabang. The scheme will also provide great opportunities for pupils, helping them understand the world beyond their own school community, enabling them to take on responsibility for planning and organising projects and in leadership training. This year we were able to send £8000 to help with getting the library boats to the remote areas.
Jane Clough to cycle in support of the CLI
Old House matron Jane Clough, is about to embark on a grueling cycling challenge from Vientiane to Luang Prabang to raise funds for the Blundell’s project supporting the CLI. She is being accompanied by Miranda Nugent and Clare Maunder.
This will be an ongoing partnership between Blundell’s and CLI in Laos with current and future generations of pupils taking part. We welcome donations to the project, and would like to thank all those of you who wish to support and help us.
