Georgia wood, Didi Eaton and Polly Muirhead also qualified as individuals in addition. Congratulations to them all.

Stonar Junior Eventing Championships 16th/17th May 2015

Great performances by all at the Championships hosted by Stonar School. Oscar Kolowski put in two very good rounds over the biggest course there on Saturday.

On Sunday, the team of Alice Smith, Seb Albery, Josh Brown and Jasper Pring were collectively strong to secure 7th place with Josh 7th individual and Jasper 3rd individual completing on double clears.

Well done to them all.

Queens College Eventers Challenge 24th May 2015

Blundell’s had a great day at the Eventers Challenge against SW schools and Pony Clubs. In class 1, Rachael Brown cruised around a tricky course to secure 1st place individual. Class 2 brought a team placing of 5th for Rachael Brown, Scarlett Vaux, Jasper Pring and Rosalie Sanders, with Jasper gaining 4th place individually. Oscar put in a very impressive round to gain 6th individual in Class 3. Class 4 Blundell’s narrowly missed the win gaining 2nd place, with Eleanor Ansell 2nd individual but in the toughest class of the day, at 1.10m, the team of Archie Hare, Will Smith & Eleanor Ansell, won on the fastest time recorded by any team throughout the whole competition, with Will 1st place and Eleanor 5th place individually – maintaining our reputation as the team to beat in the SW.

Blundell's Showjumping Team Win at Royal Windsor Horse Show May 2015

Bird Wood, Georgia Wood, Polly Muirhead and Didi Eaton represented Blundell’s at The Royal Windsor Show in the Inter-Schools Show Jumping competition. 30 schools from all over the country competed in the contest in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Blundell’s were the last team to jump of the afternoon, four hours after the first team to go had jumped round the testing course. Bird jumped first and blazed the trail with a fast clear followed by Georgia who jumped a textbook round, cutting every possible corner for another clear. After Polly had had the first fence down the pressure was on Didi, the last rider to jump of the day.

Spurred on by the vocal commentator and enthusiastic crowd, Didi knew she had to jump a fast clear to give the team a chance of being placed and pulled a foot perfect, faultless round out the bag to steal the first prize from Sherfield School, Hampshire, by two and a half seconds. Godolphin School were third and Cheltenham Ladies College were fourth.

British Eventing Mitsubishi Grassroots Championships 5th/6th May 2015

Lola Watt flew the flag for Blundell’s at the Mitsubishi Grassroots Championships at Badminton Horse Trials after qualifying with wins at BE100 level and Regional Final. This was an exciting opportunity, as to compete in Badminton Park alongside the International Three Day Event is a dream for many amateur riders. Unfortunately, weather conditions were severe and her horse, Denys de la Mer (Dennis) found the relentless gale-force winds with frequent driving rain, stressful and she had to ride tactfully! Although this affected their dressage and show jumping performances, a none-the-less very good dressage score and fabulous storming cross-country round over a testing and true Championship course, resulted in a 20th placing from 83 starters. This was an excellent result from Lola, one of the youngest in her class, who rode with great maturity in difficult conditions. It was a fantastic, unforgettable experience and Lola was very grateful for the help and support from Mrs Batting and her dressage trainer, Charlie Ward.

National School Championships 17th April 2015

National School Championships, 17th April 2015The Blundell’s team of Lara Clarkson, Jasper Pring, Polly Muirhead, Finn Muirhead went forward from the Bicton Arena qualifier to represent Devon at the National County finals held at Bury Farm, Buckinghamshire. A good first round finishing on 4 faults, put the team through to jump in the main arena where the team jumped very well to finish on a total of 8 faults. With a significant number of teams failing to complete due to the demanding course and only two teams finishing on zero faults, Blundell’s secured a very creditable 6th place overall.

Finn Muirhead had a busy week as he then went on to compete in a pony race with fellow Prep School Blundellian and Tiverton Pony Club member Josh Brown, gaining a creditable 3rd and 5th at the Dartmoor Point to Point at Flete Park, South Devon.

Blundell’s South West Schools’ ODE Bicton Arena 21st Sept 2014

Sunday was a very busy day for Mrs Batting and her huge team of helpers who ran yet another successful Blundell’s One Day Equestrian Event in glorious sunshine at Bicton Arena. It is an impressive venue but it is the organisation and commitment of the team of staff, parents and friends who run this huge event that makes it so successful and we are very grateful to them all. I am thrilled to say that around 27 pupils from the prep and senior school took part in the various classes of the event. The best Blundellian in Class 1 was Katie Holdsworth who won her section. Polly Muirhead came second in her section of Class 1. In Class 2 Archie Hare came 4th, and Sara Wright came 3rd in her class. As announced last week, Lola Watt won Class 3 with an exceptional score and in the team performances Blundell's Green team (Georgia Wood, Tabby Pring, Archie Hare, Oscar Kolowski) triumphed with Second in Class 2, with Blundell's White team (Jenny Mettam, Flic Charlesworth, Sara Wright, Ed Barlow ) coming in 5th place.

In Class 3 Lola Watt won the Open section on an incredible dressage score of 19.2 and double clear. Blundell's Silver team (Eleanor Ansell, Lola Watt, Ed Barlow, Will Smith) came second with Blundell's Purple (Didi Eaton, Eleanor Ansell, Bird Wood) in third place.
