Football 2001/02

It was always going to be difficult to live up to the reputation and football skills of last years 1st XI.  The opening game against the Old Boys however produced a fine team performance leading to a 3 : 3 draw, with goals from new boys Kim (2) and Southwick.

The season was constantly hampered by bad weather, training sessions were often washed out, and out of the eight fixtures, only five were played.  Despite this, the team managed to progress well.  Individual talent developed into some fine team performances involving some excellent passing moves, most noticeably against Millfield.

The problem faced by the team was the lack of finishing; it cost us dearly.  It was particularly frustrating, considering some of the fine approach play.

The squad was however a young side, which shows good promise for next year.
