The 2001 season began in Barbados with a tour party of fifteen players. The first four games, against older and more experienced opponents, were a real baptism of fire for some of the younger members of the team, but they showed great character by coming back to win the last three matches. When we returned to England the conditions were very different! Despite the dreary weather the spirit amongst the squad was very high. Unfortunately we had a very up and down season, losing to teams that we should have beaten, but also playing well against stronger opposition. Our main weakness was inconsistent batting meaning that we rarely posted large enough totals.

Played 18        Won 9        Lost 7       Drawn 1       Abandoned 1

We started with a win over Downside by 41 runs, Jake White top scoring with 60. Tom Wright 4-14 and Ed Buckland 3-14 did the damage with the ball. After losing a tight game against Millfield by 4 wickets and earning a draw against a strong MCC side, we recorded good wins against West Buckland, King's Bruton, Queen's Taunton and Clifton.
