April 1894, in Rivemar. California Only son of Gilbert Allan (decd) and Leila Mary Allan, of Hawkfield, Basingstoke.


Blundell's School, “Westlake” from age 15 in April 1908 to Easter 1912.


He enlisted in the Surrey Yeomanry in September 1914 and served with them as a dispatch rider, first in Egypt and afterwards in France, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. On 13th July 1915 was gazetted Second Lieutenant RFC.

Mesnil Communal Cemetery Extension.
Mesnil was close to the Allied Front lines until September 1918. The communal cemetery extension was begun in July 1916 and used again as a front line cemetery in 1918. It was greatly enlarged after the Armistice when graves from the battlefields of 1916 and 1918 north east of Mesnil and from Mesnil Dressing station cemetery which had been used form June 1916 to February 1917, were brought in.


His headstone is at 50°02’55.4” N 002°32’30.7”E
The family chose to have no motto inscribed.
