Blundell's Clothing and Games Kit (Boys)

The purpose of this list is to achieve a neat appearance for members of the School. It is intended to provide Blundellians with sufficient clothing for their needs, without incurring excessive expenditure.

The School Shop can supply all clothing listed overleaf. The School Tailor is Mr. D.G. Webber, who will undertake tailoring and repairs. He may be contacted on 01884 232316 and the Shop is normally open all day Tuesdays to Fridays plus Saturdays 10a.m. – 12.30p.m.in term time. During School Holidays he is available by appointment only.

Appointments will be available from Tuesday July 26th until the beginning of term; Mr Webber is away from Blundell’s between Saturday July 9th and Monday July 25th 2011 inclusive.

All reasonable care will be taken of pupils’ clothing, but the School cannot accept responsibility for loss of items under the pupils’ control. The School has an on-site laundry, which will deal with items of School clothing other than those requiring special treatment or dry cleaning. Boarders’ casual clothes are washed on-site. Flexi-boarders uniform and games kit can be washed on-site but their casual clothes at home.

Please ensure that all clothing is returned to School in good repair, and that necessary dry cleaning has been done during the holidays.

All items of clothing must be clearly marked with name tapes, which may be purchased through the School Shop. Boots and shoes should be marked clearly, as should all other items of personal property.

It is normal for pupils to bring their own duvet and two covers clearly marked.

Blundellians wear polished black leather shoes.

Casual clothes may be worn on School premises at weekends and in the evenings after Prep. They must be clean and in good order; and the School reserves the right to ban unsuitable items. They must be named.

In addition to the items listed overleaf, a number of other items may be required; e.g. white trousers for those in School Cricket teams; or for other activities requiring specialised clothing. These may be purchased from the School Shop, or obtained on a ‘chit’ which is billed at the end of term on the School bill.

Whilst the School will maintain clothing of boarding pupils during term time, it remains the responsibility of parents to make regular checks on the condition and suitability of their son’s clothing.

Hair

Unconventional hairstyles are to be discouraged and the use of hair gel is not permitted. Hair should be neat and tidy.

Boarders and regular flexi-boarders may bring their own bedside lamp, hair dryer, music systems, a rug or mat, posters and personal effects. Facilities are available for making toast and hot drinks. Tea, bread, butter and biscuits are delivered daily. Any other supplies you wish to bring should be kept in a lockable tuckbox together with personal valuables.
