Sixth Form Exciting Futures

As a Blundellian there is every opportunity to have a very bright and exciting future indeed. From the moment the students enter the 6th Form the discussion begins on where they would like to be when they step away from Blundell’s. For many, this is the university pathway, but we recognise that to be a success in life, one must also consider those all-important life skills. Whether it be a good hand-shake or the ability to hold a conversation with a senior member of staff, the future leaders of their field will need to be very aware of how important the little things are.

We believe strongly that showing resilience, responsibility and positivity are key traits to develop and we understand that this can be not only be nourished in the classroom, but also on the sports field, in the art rooms and on the stage. The young adults that leave Blundell’s are balanced, confident individuals with a real thirst for knowledge and excited about the next step in their lives.

We have a dedicated Careers and Further Education co-ordinator, and the students have a Futures lesson every week as part of their timetable. This gives them every opportunity to make the right decision on university choices, apprenticeships, gap years and the world of work. There are also many lectures and talks designed to help with career choice.

We have dedicated teachers for those students with aspirations to apply to Oxford or Cambridge, and for those making applications to Medicine, Veterinary or Dentistry. Over the past few years a number of students have successfully secured places at Oxford and Cambridge. See the destinations and courses taken up by students that have left Blundell’s recently.
