16+ Entry
Each year we are able to take up to 25 pupils at 16+ making a year group of over 90 (55-60 boys : 35-40 girls). These new Blundellians come from a wide variety of backgrounds, both in terms of their schooling and their areas of interest. A significant number hail from State Secondary Schools, others come from single sex schools looking for co-education, others wish to experience boarding in preparation for University life and some just wish to move into a bigger and more competitive pond.

The limited number of places is usually over-subscribed so registrations are encouraged over a year in advance. The basic requirement is that pupils should pass at least 5 GCSEs with a grade C or above and that they secure an A or B in any subject they wish to study at A Level. It is expected that all L6 will study four AS subjects and then continue with at least three of them in the U6 to A2 level.
Students are asked to make their choices in February each year, immediately after our Academic Fair; external entrants are also invited to attend this fair. The timetable is then constructed to give the maximum number of first choices possible, typically giving over 90% their chosen programme.
This will be based on an interview and a satisfactory performance in the GCSE examinations. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above. Sixth Form entrants should send a report from their present school with their predicted grades.
