Religious Studies GCSE

Year 9 will study the great arguments for and against God, starting with Aquinas and moving through to modern thinkers. They will explore the effect of belief on an individual through the story of Nicky Cruz.

They will then move on to study the basis of ethical thinking and apply it to the issues of war, peace and justice.

This the leads into the GCSE short course, which all will cover in Years 10-11. The vast majority will opt to take the exam. This is examined by two GCSE papers taken in the summer of year 11. A total of four topics will be studied. Currently the syllabus covers the problem of Evil, Religion and Science, Medical Ethics, and Peace and Justice.
