Physics at Blundell's

The whole school from years 7-9 has weekly timetabled lessons in which they are taught the three sciences separately. At the end of year 9, they have the option to study all three sciences as separate GCSE's. Aligned with the other sciences, we offer the Edexcel 9-1 CGSE. At A-Level we teach the AQA linear course to A2. To find out more information about the Physics courses taught at Blundell's, please use the appropriate links on this page.

As well as being able to study Physics as a GCSE or A-level we also offer numerous enrichment opportunities throughout the different year groups. This includes a trip to the National Space Centre for a careers fair, a trip to the CERN particle accelerators in Geneva and numerous lectures and workshops throughout the year.

The department is particularly well resourced with technical equipment. We regularly use DataHarvest data logging apparatus, iPads with plenty of relevant and exciting apps, a range of high quality telescopes and hundreds of experimental practical set-ups which enable students to undertake investigations. The department is fully wireless networked, and ICT is regularly used as a teaching and learning resource. SMART Boards and multimedia projectors in each laboratory enable us to display physics images, video clips and animations to whole classes and bespoke Physics software. Students are encouraged to follow our regularly updated twitter feed to keep up to date with current events and innovations!
