Business Studies
A/AS Level
Business Studies is a popular area of study both at Blundell’s and beyond at university. Business Studies comprises a wide range of business related subjects such as marketing, finance and accounting, human resource management, production, information technology, business ethics and economic constraints. It is a fast moving subject and one which uses up-to-the-minute references to business events in the news. At Blundell’s we offer AS/A2 Business Studies The course is taught with the assumption that there is no prior knowledge of the subject. Therefore, many of our pupils study these subjects afresh not having come across them before and are looking for something new, fast moving, easy to relate to and possibly linked to a future career in the business world. Business Studies fits well with any other combination of subjects, keeps university and career options open and introduces new areas of study such as marketing, finance, human resources, the economy, production and entrepreneurship. Essentially we are interested in helping our pupils to improve their decision making skills through investigations into the problems that businesses face in the market place. We show pupils how to construct a balanced argument, weigh the evidence and make reasoned recommendations. Fortunately, we have a vast range of teaching material available from the daily business news, studies of changing consumer tastes and world economic events.

Blundell’s uses the AQA syllabus and the full specifications are available on the following web site: www.aqa.org.uk. The syllabus is well resourced as it is the most widely used throughout the U.K and Blundell’s makes the most of the support resources.

University.
